In 2019, representatives of Roscosmos (Russian Space Agency) contacted me with a commission. I found the opportunity very enticing, but I was a little nervous about the oddness of their requests. Fortunately, everything went just fine. Glavkosmos (a division of Roscosmos dealing with commercial flights) asked me to draw a calendar with female astronauts, which I obediently produced.
But after publication, many news channels covered my calendar which, unfortunately, drew the ire of the feminist community. They were unhappy with the excessive idealization of the women in my work. But real world spacesuits are bulky affairs that make it difficult to distinguish the gender of the astronaut which is why I took liberties and drew everything a little exaggerated.
