As long as we’re on the subject of my heritage, back in 2016, I was stuck for an idea for my next calendar. It was already December, but suddenly the realization came to me that the next year, 2017, would mark the 100th anniversary of the Great October Revolution in Russia. You can relate to that event in different ways. Some think that the uprising was inevitable. Some see it as the main tragedy of the 20th century.
In this matter, I do not take sides but recognize its historic significance. I have been inspired by the art that appeared at that time. Kandinsky, Malevich, Rodchenko, Lissitzky and many other abstractionists and constructivists served as the main reference points for my calendar. For the text gracing this series, I decided to use the works of famous poets of that time and sayings from Soviet propaganda. Naturally, in a modern context.
